Experience True Lavender
Lavender is the
flower of dreams and devotion.
Cherished for centuries, lavender uplifts-easing anxiety and
insecurity, restoring calm and joy to the spirit.
Beloved by the ancients, it was used in baths and rituals for its
exceptionally rare, sweet and dreamy fragrance. The Romans introduced
it to England, where it grew to immense popularity in Elizabethan
and Victorian times, cultivated as English lavender, or true
lavender.
Sweet, floral and herbaceous, its faraway scent inspired imagery
of the fairy realm, associations of good fortune, and marital
divination.
Its name comes from the Latin, lavare,
‘to wash’ or livendula, meaning ‘bluish’ and was preferred for
washing clothes (hence, "lavender girls", or "laundry girls") and was
common in apothecaries for its disease ridding properties. |

Appropriately, it came to be
associated with true love, devotion and dreams.
Today, lavender is experiencing a renewal in popularity. It is valued
for its calming and relaxing abilities, as well as its antiseptic and
versatile applications. Lavender and its wonderful fragrance is
once again celebrated, as it has been
since ancient times.
